Presented as part of the Sisters On Screen Film Festival, "The Sapphires" was inspired by true events.
An all-girl group comprised of three Australian indigenous sisters and their cousin, The Sapphires rise against discrimination to find their voice - and stardom - in the midst of the Vietnam War.
The Sisters On Screen Film Festival is a class project organized by the students of MUSI 4283 (Women in Music). Each of the three films (Nov. 13, 14 & 15) will begin with a pre-screening talk. All donations raised will be put toward a scholarship to support a young girl's music education.
This event is sponsored by the Acadia School of Music, the Acadia Women's & Gender Studies Program, and the College Music Society.
